In the framework of the "Open Day" event, to be held on February 13, 2014, the School of Engineering of the University of Pisa (Italy) will open up to high school students, who will meet faculty staff and attend to presentations and experiments. Given the coincidence with the World Radio Day, the faculty staff of the graduate program in Telecommunications Engineering will provide its contribution to celebrations by setting up practical demonstrations of radio transmissions. By using ultra-low-power programmable radio devices, special program contents concerning the WRD will be aired inside the classrooms of the School of Engineering. This experimental demonstration aims at stimulating the curiosity of the young visitors about the technologies underlaying the radio communications and at asserting the fundamental role of the study of radiotechnics, applied electromagnetism, and the related disciplines, in the formation of information-technology engineers.
